The EDACS Network
The EDACS network currently has 5 'known' users, Aurora Energy, Tasmania Police, Ericsson, Stornoway and Inland Fisheries, all though not much is known or heard of from the Inland Fisheries they have been known to use the network at times.
Please note that some sites are capable of Encrypted Digital Transmissions which cannot be decoded and listened in to under any circumstances, those capable of this will be marked as such.
All frequencies are in MHz & FM mode unless otherwise stated.
Important:
Below you will find frequencies for each EDACS site in Tasmania that we are aware of, please take note that the frequencies are listed in the proper LCN (Logical Channel Number) order, this has to be followed exactly as listed here when programming up your scanner, the LCN is vital in making sure your scanner trunks properly.

The format is: Site - Nearby Town - DAC = Digital Aegis Capable, meaning the site is capable of transmitting in encrypted digital which cannot be monitored at all, click on the red names to expand the contents and then green to collapse the contents.
If a frequency has a * (star) beside it then it's a new frequency that has only recently been registered to the site but may not be online and active as yet, once online you will need to check and re-confirm the proper LCN order of that site to make sure it has not changed at all and if it has what the new order is, if you know of a change to any sites LCN please be sure to let us know.
We now have a list of helpful guides for setting up various Trunk Tracking Scanners on the Tasmanian EDACS Network. (All open in a new window)

Current Network Status:
The TASGRN (Tasmania Government Radio Network) currently has Five known users:
Aurora and it's sub-groups - Used fully all areas (04-XXX Talk Groups)
Tasmania Police Service - All groups in all areas. Analogue mostly, some digital when required. (08-XXX Talk Groups)
Ericsson and Associated Contractors - all areas (14-XXX Talk Groups)
Inland Fisheries Commission - Unknown details, but known to make use of the network and have been heard on TalkGroup 11-011.
Stornoway - 02-023 - Not very active but also known to make use of the network on occasions.
Tasmanian Ambulance Service - Was trialing the system, tests only, no operational usage, expanded existing VHF network.
Tas Fire Service - was trailing the system, possibly operationally in some areas. Unknown status otherwise.
Aurora also transmits data across the network, mainly in the south-east of the State. Ericsson also occasionally transmit data, too. Continual network 'tweaking' and improvements are being made, and it can be expected that some base stations will have capacity expanded, or new fill in sites put in place.
Update 03/03/2009 - There has been a few rumours circulating about that most of the emergency services will move across to the EDACS network at some point in the near future, when this will be or if it's even true is anyone's guess, at this point in time we cannot confirm anything.
There is also much speculation as to when the Tasmania Police will cease to use in-the-clear communications and switch across to a new Digital Provoice system, again we cannot confirm when or if this will happen, however if it does it means you will no longer be able to monitor them at all, but we are happy about this if it does go ahead as we strongly believe that they need a secure means of communication to aid them in their already hazardous job.
Update 30/07/09 - We can now confirm that Tasmania Police will be moving to a secure digital network in the very near future, we do not know any actual dates but we do know this is happening, again we welcome this move and hope it goes smoothly so as they can finally have the secure network they so desperately deserve and need, please note again that once they move to this new network scanning the Police will not be possible what so ever.
We will try and keep you all informed of any changes as they come to hand or when we find out any further news.
