Uniden UBCT-8/9 & EDCAS...

Uniden UBCT8

This guide will help you in programming up the Uniden UBCT-8 & UBCT-9 for use on the Tasmanian EDACS Trunking Network, the T9 is the newer version of the T8 but is identical in programming and usage.

From the EDACS frequency page, select the site that is closest to your location, in the example below we are going to set up the UBCT-8/9 for the Mt Barrow site in Nunamara near Launceston.

We have found that it is best to program the scanner for Trunking first then after that is working, program other frequencies that you might want to listen to in other banks.

How To Do It:

The first step is to turn on your T8/T9, Then press and hold TRUNK for approx. 1.5 seconds.

Now select the bank you wish to set up. (in this example we will use bank 4)

(NOTE: you can only have one EDACS site per bank)

Use the up / down arrows to select trunk type, Ed ,then press E.

Using the up / down arrows again make sure to select Pro 9 F and press E.

Now you have to put the frequencies in the correct channels in the correct order, this is vital!

If you look at our EDACS frequency lists you will see that the Mt Barrow site is set out like this:

Freq Table

So you then follow the procedure below......

865.2875 is channel 1 and goes in to channel 151 on the T8/T9.

You enter 865.2875 on the keypad then press E.

Press the UP arrow to go to the next free channel

866.2875 is channel 2 and goes in to channel 152 on the T8/T9.

You enter 866.2875 on the keypad then press E.

Press the UP arrow to go to the next free channel

867.2875 is channel 3 and goes in to channel 153 on the T8/T9.

Just follow the steps above for each of the channels.

868.2875 is channel 4 and goes in to channel 254 on the T8/T9.

869.2875 is channel 5 and goes in to channel 255 on the T8/T9.

865.7875 is channel 6 and goes in to channel 256 on the T8/T9

866.7875 is channel 7 and goes in to channel 257 on the T8/T9

867.7875 is channel 8 and goes in to channel 258 on the T8/T9

868.7875 is channel 9 and goes in to channel 259 on the T8/T9.

As you can see above you just read the frequencies on the list moving to the next row down if there is one, keeping the order exactly as it is listed, remember it is vital that you put them in the same LCN (Logical Channel Number) order as listed on the page.

Now press the SRCH key and you should be hearing things, if not make sure you press the number 4 key while it's scanning to activate that bank you just programmed up.

Just A Few Notes:

You MUST enter the channels in the right order or it will not work properly.

They MUST be the only channels in that bank; you can’t have any other channels with them.
