Uniden 780XLT & EDACS...

780XLT

This guide will help you in programming up the Uniden 780XLT for use on the Tasmanian EDACS Trunking Network.

We have found that it is best to program the scanner for Trunking first then after that is working, program other frequencies that you might want to listen to in other banks.

How To Do It:

The first step is to turn on your 780,

Then press Menu and use the up/down keys to select, Trunk Data, then press E.

Now select the bank you wish to set up (in this example bank 6), then press E.

(NOTE: you can only have one EDACS site per bank)

Press up/down keys to select trunk type, EDCS WIDE, then press E.

Now press Menu three times to get back to the start screen and it should be on the first channel of the bank you selected. (channel 251 in this example)

Now you have to put the frequencies in the correct channels in the correct order, this is vital!

From the EDACS frequency page, select the site that is closest to your location, in the example below we are going to set up the 780XLT for the Mt Barrow site in Nunamara near Launceston.

Freq Table

So you then follow the procedure below......

865.2875 is channel 1 and goes in to channel 251 on the 780xlt,

You enter 865.2875 on the keypad then press E, now you MUST press and hold the TRUNK Key for 2 seconds until a small E appears on the screen, this tells the 780xlt it is a Trunking frequency you just entered, now press the MAN key.

866.2875 is channel 2 and goes in to channel 252 on the 780xlt .

You enter 866.2875 on the keypad then press E, now you MUST press and hold the TRUNK Key for 2 seconds until a small E appears on the screen, now press the MAN key.

867.2875 is channel 3 and goes in to channel 253 on the 780xlt.

Just follow the steps above for each of the channels.

868.2875 is channel 4 and goes in to channel 254 on the 780xlt.

869.2875 is channel 5 and goes in to channel 255 on the 780xlt.

865.7875 is channel 6 and goes in to channel 256 on the 780xlt

866.7875 is channel 7 and goes in to channel 257 on the 780xlt

867.7875 is channel 8 and goes in to channel 258 on the 780xlt

868.7875 is channel 9 and goes in to channel 259 on the 780xlt.

As you can see above you just read the frequencies on the list moving to the next row down if there is one, keeping the order exactly as it is listed, remember it is vital that you put them in the same LCN (Logical Channel Number) order as listed on the page.

Now press SCAN and select the bank(s) you wish to scan, in our case bank 6, press TRUNK  now press SRCH, you should soon hear talking, if not go over your settings and double check everything.
