Uniden 245XLT & EDACS...

This guide will help you in programming up the Uniden 245XLT for use on the Tasmanian EDACS Trunking Network.
From the EDACS frequency page, select the site that is closest to your location, in the example below we are going to set up the 245XLT for the Mt Barrow site in Nunamara near Launceston.
We have found that it is best to program the scanner for Trunking first then after that is working properly, program other frequencies that you might want to listen to in other banks.
How To Do It:
-
The first step is to turn on your 245XLT, Once the display message dissapears press and hold TRK until you hear 2 beeps, Bank & Trunk will flash on the display.
-
Now select the bank you wish to use, in this case we will use bank 6 which starts at channel 151. (NOTE: you can only have one EDACS site per bank)
-
A trunking option will now be displayed, Use the up/down arrows to select the trunk type, 'Ed', then press E.
-
Now you need to put the frequencies in the correct channels in the correct LCN order, or Logical Channel Number, this is most vital or you will miss some conversations.
If you look at our EDACS frequency lists you will see that Mt Barrow is set out like the following, with 1 through to 9 being the LCN order:

So you would then do the following.....
865.2875MHz is channel 1 and goes in to channel 151 on the 245xlt. (You can choose any unused bank)
You would key in 8 6 5 . 2 8 7 5 on the keypad and press E.
Press the UP arrow to go to the next free channel
866.2875 is channel 2 and goes in to channel 152 on the 245xlt.
You enter 8 6 6 . 2 8 7 5 on the keypad then press E.
Press the UP arrow to go to the next free channel
867.2875 is channel 3 and goes in to channel 153 on the 245xlt.
You enter 8 6 7 . 2 8 7 5 on the keypad and press E.
Just follow the steps above for each of the remaining channels in the list.
868.2875 is channel 4 and goes in to channel 254 on the 245xlt.
869.2875 is channel 5 and goes in to channel 255 on the 245xlt.
865.7875 is channel 6 and goes in to channel 256 on the 245xlt
866.7875 is channel 7 and goes in to channel 257 on the 245xlt
867.7875 is channel 8 and goes in to channel 258 on the 245xlt
868.7875 is channel 9 and goes in to channel 259 on the 245xlt
As you can see above you just read the frequencies down the list keeping the order exactly as it is listed on the frequency page.
Once ALL the freqs have been entered press SRCH. THEN the bank number you chose in step 2 and you should be hearing things (if they are talking).
If not make sure you are scanning the bank you just programmed up and that Trunk is displaying in the left top of the display, see your user manual for how to change to different Trunking displays using the SRCH and DATA keys.
